Typhoid fever is a bacterial infection caused by Salmonella typhi. It is a highly contagious disease, commonly spread through contaminated food and water. Some individuals may even carry the bacteria without showing any symptoms.
Typhoid Fever in Ayurveda
In Ayurveda, typhoid fever is known as Manthrak Jvar or Aantrik Jvar.
Contaminated food or water introduces the bacteria into the intestines, where they multiply and cause inflammation.
This leads to imbalance of all three doshas — Vata, Pitta, and Kapha, with Pitta dosha being predominantly aggravated.
