Fennel seeds commonly known as saunf is having deepan ( carminative ) and pachan ( digestive) properties. Because of this it help to improve Agni ( digestive fire). Fennel seeds is useful in balancing the Vata- Kapha dosha, therefore is useful in digestive problems such as bloating and gas.

How to Use Fennel Seeds

Fennel seeds can be consumed directly by chewing. Take 1 to 2 gms of fennel seeds and chew after meals daily is helpful in digestion.

Secondly way is to take Fennel seed as tea. Take 2 cups of water add 1 teaspoon of fennel seed and boil it till 1 cup remains. Sip this tea two times daily to improve digestion

Use Ginger in your diet

Ayurveda has numerous herbs to help improve digestion and Ginger is one of them. Ginger posses excellent antinflammtary and carminative properties. Ayurveda says that ginger is Vibandhhar ( one which relieves constipation) and Anahaar ( one which relieves gas). It is very helpful to improve digestive fire and relieves Anorexia.

How to Use Ginger : 

According to Ayurveda  the best way of using ginger to improve digestion is to consume it before starting the meals.

Take a small piece of fresh ginger and peel it. Then chop it into small pieces, now add 2 to 3 drops of lemon juice to it and one to two pinch of rock salt( Saindhav lavan). Chew this piece just before starting the meals. Consuming ginger this way stimulates the salivary glands to produce saliva and aid in digestion of food.

Buttermilk the natural probiotic

 Buttermilk known as Takra in Ayurveda is said to be the best remedy for better digestion. It is helpful in treating many digestive disorders as well as improving the digestive power.  Buttermilk help in improvement of  bowel function , maintanance of gut flora diarrhoea and also may help in lowering high blood pressure.

Butter milk is sweet and sour in taste and hot in potnecy. According to ayurveda buttermilk is beneficial in many digestive problems such as irritable bowel syndrome, piles, diarrhoea, spleenomegaly. Along with this it is also useful in anemia, obesity in relieveing joint pain.

How to Use buttermilk : 

Take 1oo gms of curd and add 60 ml of water to it and blend it nicely with help of blender. Collect the thick part ( Navneet) deposited on the top. This is known as Takra in Ayurveda. Now add pinch of blackpepper, cumin powder, aseofitida, and rock salt to this. Drink this buttermilk two to three times a day is very beneficial in digestion.

  The herb is an effective remedy for several diseases of the stomach. It is one of the best remedies available for flatulence and is an essential ingredient for most of the digestive powders. It is  Deepaniya (carminative) , shulhar (antispasmodic relieves colic pain) ,pachniya ( digestive).

Hing ( Asafoetida) is hot potency herb and therfore it increases Pitta. Therefore it is not recoomended for people with hyperacidity, gastritis and bleeding disorder.  

 How to use Asafoetida ( Hing ) 

 In case of flatulence and distension of the stomach, asafoetida should be dissolved in hot water and a pad of cloth steeped in it may be used for fomenting the abdomen.

It can also be added to buttermilk. Hing with buttermilk is excellent remedy to ease bloating and gas.
