Babool is a small tree growing upto a height of 8-10 meters containing small spikes. The tree is found in dry region of whole India. Branches spread and forms a crown shaped structure. The bark of this tree is reddish brown in color , thin, rough with fissures in it Flowers are bright yellow, small, clustered as round heads and with sweet fragrance seeds are dark brown in color. A brownish white gum exudes from the trunk is known as Babool Gond.
