What is knee pain
Knees are one the important weight bearing joint in our body. healthy knees are required for walking ,standing etc. However when there pain in knee joint is known as Knee pain. Knee pain is a very common complaints in people of all age groups. Many type of minor knee pain respond well to home made remedies to reduce knee pain.

In Ayurveda the main reason of knee joint pain is increased Vata dosha is the body. Along with vata dosha the accumulation of toxins also leads to pain in knees. y. According to Ayurveda, knee pain is caused when influence of Vata dosha increases in the joints. Because of dry quality of Vata, it absorbs the fluid (Kapha) from the joints and causes destruction of the cartilages and reduction in the Synovial Fluid inside the joint capsule.

1. The Diet :
Food we eat plays important role in mangement and treatment of any disease . For reducing knee pain with home made remedies you must choose your food wisely. here is the list of food you should avoid
- Avoid dry, preserved and packaged foods,
- Avoid carbonated drinks or cold food items.
- Choose foods that are easy to digest and warming.
2. Weight management :
Overweight and obesity can put additional pressure on your knee joints. Therefore if you are overweight reducing weight might help relieve symptoms by reducing the pressure on them. According to the Arthritis Foundation, an additional 10 pounds of weight can add between 15 and 50 pounds of pressure to a joint.
3. Herbal oil application
In Ayurveda oils are believed to be the best remedy to reduce vata dosha. As vata dosha is reponsible for pain applying lukewarm oil on the affected knee is very beneficial in reducing knee pain with home made remedy. For this one can use plain seasame oil or other herbal oils.

4. Hot Fomentation :
Another very simple home made remedy to reduce knee pain is hot homentation. For homentation all you need to do is make a bolus with sand or carum seeds and rock salt. Heat this bolus on frying pan or griddle and apply on the painful knees. Either you can use hot water bag or now a days heating pads are also available.
Don’t do hot fomentation if you there is redness and warmth in knees.

To make this herbal paste take turmeric powder 1 teaspoon add dry ginger powder and cinnamon powder each 1\2 teaspoon . Add 2 teaspoon of hot water and make paste. Apply this paste on affected part. keep it for half hour then remove it with cotton piece soaked in lukewarm water.
