Psoriasis is basically a chronic and inflammatory autoimmune skin disease affecting the skin. It is persistent skin disorder that results in red, thickened patches on the skin along with the shedding of silvery scales, these patches usually \u00a0occurs on the elbows, knees,\u00a0 scalps and joints but they can appear on other areas as well. These patches can be itchy and painful.<\/p>\n In Ayurveda all skin diseases are described under the common disease Kushtha. In Kushtha roga\u00a0 all the three doshas\u00a0 (Vata,Pitta,Kapha) get vitiated and they involves twacha (skin), raktha (blood), mamsa (muscle), and lasika (lymph or plasma).In Ayurveda text we find 18 different types of Kushtha roga. Kushtha is divided in 2 types as Maha and Kshudra Kushtha on the basis of dosha dominance and severity. Among these 18 types Psoriasis can be correlated with two types of Kushtha roga namely Ek Kushtha and Kitibh Kushtha with Kapha-Vata dominancy.<\/p>\n The exact cause is not known.
