  Irritable bowel syndrome is a functional disorder of small intestine characterized by colicky pain in abdomen , urge to defecate finishing eating urge to defecate whenever going out of home episode of constipation and diarrhea, passing mucous with stool, although this is not life threatening disease but it makes life miserable and causes distress and discomfort to the patient.

  • Food that are heavy to digest, cool, dry and stale food should be avoided in IBS.
  • Too much spicy and oily food irritate the mucosal lining and are not good for someone with symptoms of IBS.
  • Avoid eating breads burger sandwich ,pizza, cake, pastries as they are high in gluten contain.
  • Take your meals at regular time and in relaxed atmosphere.
  • Always have  your dinner early at least 3 hour before going to bed. It helps in proper digestion of food.
  • Processed and fermented food are  not good for irritable bowel syndrome as they aggravtes the dosha’s.
  • Milk and dairy product aggravtes the kapha dosha and makes digestion weak therefore they should be avoided.
  • Avoid toabcco , alcohol and other addictive substance.

  • Take one teaspoon of Triphala Churna mixed with 1 teaspoon of isabgol husk with one glass of water half hour before going to bed is very effective remedy .
  • Regular intake of buttermilk is very effective in treatment of irritable bowel syndrome it is a natural probiotic
  • One teaspoon of Cumin seeds powder mixed with half cup of pomegranate juice is very helpful.
  • Eating curd and rice is beneficial in loose motion assocaited with IBS.
